EUKOR Improves its BC/DR with Zerto Virtual Replication

Overview:

EUKOR operates a large and modern fleet of specialized Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC), embracing some of the largest vessels in the world — annually transporting around 4 million cars worldwide, utilizing a global network of offices and agents. Their customers include Hyundai Motors, KIA Motors, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, General Motors, Ford and many others. Through continuous expansion of the route network, minimization of transit times, utmost attention to cargo-handling quality and a strong dedication to cost savings, EUKOR strives to deliver total customer satisfaction. The unavailability of their infrastructure impacts their service and reputation.

EUKOR virtualized its environment with the goal of improving its business continuity and disaster recovery processes. The company was leveraging a high availability (HA) configuration which was meeting its needs, but it needed a true disaster recovery solution. An array-based solution was evaluated; however, it was difficult to manage and monitor. It did not provide the visibility it need and more importantly, it was complex and difficult to use. Zerto Virtual Replication delivered the service levels the company requires; a recovery point objective of just two minutes and a recovery time objective of 60 minutes.

The Problem

EUKOR is delivering a dynamic service with lots of moving parts across the globe. EUKOR’s main system is located in IDC in Korea. However, the service is being updated continuously from 10 other offices located in eight countries and numerous agents around the world. Therefore, the reliability of the whole system is extremely important as it directly impacts the core business processes. EUKOR needed a solution which was flexible and agile to align to its IT strategy.

The key to EUKOR’s BC/DR strategy was the service level agreement they needed to support. Their IT team needed to deliver a recovery point objective (RPO) of 2 minutes and a recovery time objective (RTO) of 60 minutes. If they could meet these service levels, EUKOR would be able to continue to deliver the superior service customers had come to expect from EUKOR.
