The addition of Microsoft Hyper-V to the list of hypervisors supported by Zerto is the first step in the realization of Zerto’s Cloud technology, unveiled earlier this year. This technology enables enterprises to utilize any type of workload on any hypervisor or any cloud, regardless of underlying infrastructure — taking the industry lead in the movement, management and protection of production workloads in the hybrid cloud.
Zerto Offsite Backup increases the usefulness of Hyper-V data that is replicated for the purposes of BC/DR. Just like with VMware, a duplicate backup infrastructure is not required for backup with Zerto, significantly reducing the storage costs of the production environment. Zerto’s backup solution extends the journal to offer continuous data protection for up to 5 days worth of data, retaining daily, weekly, and monthly copies of data.
Offsite backups of Virtual Machines (VMs) and their data form a key part of a complete BC/DR solution as they are the last line of defense in protecting the business in the event of a disaster. By having a third copy of the data, kept offsite, no matter what happens with the primary site, local server backups, data replication or even recovery site the business always has the ability to recover.
