IDC Names Zerto a Major Player for Cyber Recovery

Est. Reading Time: 3 minutes

Zerto is proud to be named a Major Player for cyber recovery in the inaugural IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Cyber Recovery. IDC has recognized what our customers have long known: Zerto is a powerful solution for quickly and easily responding to cyber attacks by detecting and recovering from ransomware without paying a ransom or losing untenable amounts of data.

IDC identified five key strengths for Zerto:

  1. Strong continuous data protection (CDP) with RPOs in seconds and RTOs in minutes
  2. DR capabilities and our Cyber Resilience Vault (the only CDP and journal-based cyber vault on the market)
  3. Rapid detection of anomalous encryption activity that might indicate an attack
  4. Tight integration with hypervisors and platforms
  5. Correlation of anomalous events with potential recovery points

Zerto 10 was not evaluated in IDC’s research because it was released after the report’s predefined cutoff period. The excitement around Zerto 10 from our customer and partner community has proven how much it has to offer for cyber recovery and how it enhances our cyber resilience capabilities. In addition to what IDC highlighted, our customers are taking advantage of many other Zerto strengths when they use us to recover from ransomware, including:

  • Open APIs to enable highly tailored, purpose-built integrations with SIEM, SOAR, and other tools in their security stack
  • Simplicity at scale so they don’t have to micromanage their cyber recovery solution and can focus on other priorities, whether protecting 50 VMs or 5,000 VMs
  • Flexible architectures, including cyber protection to, from, and within the cloud plus customizable on-premises configurations for immutability, app-centric recovery, MFA, RBAC, and more

We are proud to be the only DR offering to earn a spot in the MarketScape. DR solutions with continuous data protection are best suited to meeting the new kind of disaster that ransomware presents. In fact, IDC research has shown that the majority of DR declarations these days are triggered by ransomware. Interestingly, what’s under-emphasized in this new IDC MarketScape is the criticality and urgency of prioritizing speed of recovery and minimizing data loss as much as possible. These criteria were not weighted heavily in the research even though it’s one of the top concerns we hear from organizations every single day.

Rapid, orchestrated recovery is one of the key ways Zerto helps enterprises radically reduce data loss and downtime. One customer said it best: “I’ve had ransomware issues before when Zerto wasn’t involved and it was much more complicated. Now, with Zerto, it’s at least 50-75% faster.” Another customer wrote, “Zerto saved us considerable downtime when we experienced a ransomware attack. It may be hard to substantiate that on just the one situation, but we saved at least a couple million dollars.”
