The Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault & RSA Conference 2024 Wrap-Up

Est. Reading Time: 4 minutes

We just wrapped RSA Conference (RSAC) 2024, and we are thrilled by your enthusiasm for the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault. The conference was abuzz with questions about artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, and the vault provided some welcome answers.

As expected, AI was in the spotlight at RSAC again this year, but unlike RSAC 2023, discussions progressed well beyond securing it. Last year, the main challenge was organizational security concerns arising from generative AI and large language model adoption, and the use of AI in cybersecurity seemed to be in its nascent stages.

Top Takeaways from RSAC 2024: AI—a Double-Edged Sword in Cyber, Recovery is the Solution of Choice

This year, the conversation around AI and security has matured from simply mitigating the risk introduced by adoption to recognizing that AI can be weaponized. Thanks to scores of announcements and thousands of dollars poured into marketing noise, conference attendees learned of a quickly evolving reality: AI is becoming a driving force for new capabilities in both cyber defense and cyberattacks, so it must be viewed from both an offensive and defensive standpoint.

The anxiety is palpable. Four in 10 IT leaders predict that within the next six months, they will be victimized by an AI-generated attack, according to a new HPE report, “Architect an AI Advantage.” To arm themselves, IT leaders are turning to a wide variety of security methods, including deploying data backup and recovery services.

Data backup is certainly a time-tested tool for recovery, and the usual backup players were in attendance at RSAC. However, backups are hampered by outmoded techniques such as lower-tier backup grade storage and slow, file-based security scanning, which inevitably lead to unacceptably long recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs).

Fast Recovery Solution: Enter the New Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault

By contrast, the enhanced vault solution offered by Zerto, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, stood out from both backup and vault competitors with its lightning-fast recovery. In addition to the speed that has made Zerto the recognized leader in data recovery for the past decade, at RSAC 2024 Zerto announced that its vault now leverages HPE Alletra Storage MP to align with the highest recommended security guidance: an isolated recovery environment (IRE) combined with an immutable data vault (IDV).

By creating a clean room or physical gap from the production network, the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault minimizes attack surfaces and speeds recovery times. It leverages only offline, decentralized data stored in the HPE Alletra MP (the next-gen storage solution by HPE for running critical workloads with AI-powered high performance).

But Zerto’s vault doesn’t stop at a clean room. Along with isolation, immutability ensures data integrity since vault data cannot be modified or altered once created. The result is rapid air-gapped recovery from granular, clean checkpoints untouched by ransomware—and a swift return to business as usual, even after the worst attacks.

Zerto: A Trusted Solution for Rapid Recovery and Compliance

When the landscape changes due to the rise of cloud, AI, and other trends, turn to rapid recovery. More effective than backup or first-gen vaults, an isolated, immutable vault with the ability to rapidly recover from can help you weather sea changes while improving the continuity of your business.

As always, along with new trends come new compliance guidelines. Policy is advancing, and the US government, EU, and others are demanding better security by design in all areas, including those touched by AI. Designed for frameworks like NIST and DORA, the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault combines the best of today’s cyber-resilient technologies with tomorrow’s possibilities, helping organizations to embrace the responsibility of meeting regulatory requirements while protecting data for the long term.

Where Can You Find Us Next?

It doesn’t take predictive AI to know that more conferences, more AI, and more answers will be in our immediate future. Join us at HPE Discover 2024 (booth #2039) on June 17–20 in Las Vegas for demos, labs, speaking sessions, and conversations about the Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault.

Until then, check out our solution brief on Building a Cyber Resilience Vault with Zerto and learn how to achieve rapid air-gapped recovery after a ransomware attack. Or try our hands-on labs to see Zerto data protection at work firsthand.
