Early Access Program Launches at VMworld – Zerto’s Integration with VAIO will enable support for VMware Secure Boot with future Zerto IT Resilience Platform Releases
BOSTON & SAN FRANCISCO, August 26, 2019 – Zerto, an industry leader for IT resilience, today announced the launch of an Early Access Program for the Zerto platform certified with VMware’s VAIO framework. The VAIO-certified version, expected to become GA in Q4 2019, allows for deployment and support for Secure Boot for vSphere hosts. This is especially important for government agencies and highly secure environments more generally.
The vSphere APIs for I/O Filtering (VAIO) allows vendors to develop filters that can intercept any IO requests from a VM to a virtual disk. This integration with Zerto will allow Zerto customers on future IT Resilience Platform versions to create VM replication policies in vCenter’s Storage Policy Based Management for use in continuous data protection and IT Resilience. Certification with VAIO is accomplished by the creation of a tested and validated vSphere Installation Bundle (VIB). Zerto has completed the initial certification of its VIB as part of the development process for its next major release. As part of the certification, Zerto is now listed in the VMware Compatibility Guide.
On Tuesday August 27th, from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Zerto’s SVP Product, Rob Strechay and VMware’s Sr. Director of vSphere Product Management, Paul Turner will lead a session on “VAIO for IT Resilience – Zerto & VMware with what you need to know.” The session will detail how enterprises and service providers are using the VMware ecosystem for quick deployment of continuous data protection in on-premises or multi-cloud environments. The session code is HBI3505BUS. Information about joining the Zerto VAIO Early Access Program is available at the Zerto booth, #435.
Advantages of inclusion in the VAIO framework include:
“VMware vSphere APIs for IO filtering allows companies like Zerto to have the closest possible level of integration with VMware vSphere,” said Mark Lohmeyer, senior vice president and general manager of Cloud Platform Business Unit, VMware. “Zerto’s adoption of the IO filtering framework underscores the value of the VMware ecosystem and allows customers to quickly deploy the software defined data center in both hybrid and multi-cloud environments.”
“Participation in VMware’s Technology Alliance Program and VAIO program enabled Zerto to collaborate with VMware on the design and implementation that satisfies increasing demands for continuous data protection in highly secure environments,” said Rob Strechay, SVP of product at Zerto. “With the VAIO version, Zerto’s customers have a new option for cloud mobility and data protection.”
