    • Failover Clarification

Since approval to try this in our environment is not worth asking for … What happens in this scenario?   Site1 legitimately goes down. Site1 is unusable for several days, but hardware is all in tact. Site2 brings up servers using Failover, sets to reverse protect, and commits the action.   Once Site1 becomes usable […]

    • API 5.0 update 3 Changes

From ZVR 5.0 update 3 release notes users may have seen an update to ZVR API which was a security improvement, which may cause some existing scripts now not to function on ZVR 5.0 update 3. This is down to the accept headers set in the scripts. This is a quick and easy fix, first […]

    • JBOSS Cluster Supported

I know most database-oriented clustering schemes with multiple VMs sharing common storage are incompatible with Zerto, but what about JBOSS clusters, where the separate JBOSS instances can be automatically clustered to improve load performance, but persistent storage is not involved? For reference, here’s the relevant JBOSS documentation: https://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/jboss4guide/r4/html/cluster.chapt.html Thanks!

Running VMWare at both production and DR sites. Currently running Zerto v5.0u2. Started the upgrade process to v5.0u3 and I was met with an error: “An error has occurred. MSI Error code:  -2147023271” I’m going to open a support ticket but I thought I’d pose the question here, in the event someone else has seen […]

I’ve found several posts/articles/blogs about running your first PowerShell CmdLets, etc.  However, I can’t find how you actually install those CmdLets.  If I run “add-pssnapin Zerto.PS.Commands”, PowerShell gives an error that “No snap-ins have been registered for Windows PowerShell version 4”.  I see the DLL of the same name in the Zerto installation folder, but […]

My ZVM machines are currently running on Windows Server 2008R2. Sooner or later Zerto (and Microsoft) are going to deprecate support for 2008R2. I’d like to do an in place upgrade from 2008R2 to 2016. My question is, has anyone done this? Any gotchas? Specifically relating to Zerto, any issues with the ZVM software post […]

We create VPG’s by pointing them at Resource Pools rather than individual hosts. I’m finding that Zerto does not spread VM’s across hosts within a cluster when doing this. I setup one today that pointed 3 of 4 large busy VM’s at a single host rather than spreading across the cluster. Replication traffic is pounding […]
