VPG Best Practice
in: VMware

Do you typically have a dedicated Datastore for the recovered VM/volumes? What is the typical journal history settings and do you use the advanced journal […]

VM startup delay between VPGs
in: VMware
Hi, I know that if a VPG contains multiple VMs, you can set a startup order. I have 11 VPGs each containing a single VM. Can I failover these VPGs in a particular order?

Discard changes from a live failover test or move.
in: General Discussion
We are replicating two sites, vmware to vmware. Is there a way to failover or move a VPG live, then after the test is over discard the changes and fail back? My first choice was going to be to do a test instead of a live failover, but our environment isn’t going to allow us […]

Protecting Zerto itself
in: General Discussion
I’ve asked this question to the forum and my internal Zerto contacts on several occasions. As we know Zerto does a great job of protecting our virtual infrastructures. However per Zerto best practices we are not supposed to perform backups of ZVM’s nor can we protect ZVM’s in a VPG. I usually hear things like […]

Forums can be great…
in: General Discussion
for both customers and suppliers. As a guy whose been doing the VMware thing since 2004 I feel that one of the most valuable sources of information is VMware’s community forums. I can often find answers there must faster than if I put in a support ticket. I think suppliers (in this case Zerto employees) […]

Questions about Zerto naming conventions in Azure
in: Microsoft Azure
Hello, I’m currently working on some Azure processes and want to confirm that a few parts of Zerto’s implementation of it are expected and not planned to change just to make sure what I’m working on doesn’t break with an upcoming update. 1) When running a failover or failover test, the VM and its NIC […]

"Setting Validation Failed" in Invoke-RestMethod
in: Scripting and APIs
I am using a script to pull the settings of all VM NIC settings, based off the script found here starting on page 16: https://www.zerto.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Automating-Zerto-Virtual-Replication-with-PowerShell-and-REST-APIs.pdf It mostly works, however I found it was skipping over some VPGs. Digging into it, I found that the problem was occuring here (near the top of page 18): <h6>########################################## […]
