How to clear /mnt/logs on a VRA

Summary

The log partition on the VRA should clear itself out once it reaches a threshold.
In some instances, the log process can hang and take longer to delete automatically and therefore, cause an issue. A customer might receive an error that the /mnt/logs mount of a VRA is full and needs to be manually cleared.

Steps

In order to resolve the issue and clear the logs, follow these steps:
  1. Log in to the relevant VRA, you can use the following KB to connect to the VRA.
  2. Type the command 'df -h' to review the used percentage of the /mnt/logs mount.
  3. If it is full (close to 100%), go into the mount by using the command cd /mnt/logs.
  4. Run the command 'rm core*' to delete the core log files.
  5. Use 'df -h' again to verify that enough space was recovered.
Notes:

  • Please take into consideration that because during this operation some log files will be deleted, it will be impossible to perform a log analysis for the time frame that was deleted.
