Force vmxnet3 instead of e1000 for linux
in: Cross-Hypervisor
Hi, Is there a way to force a linux vm failover and use vmxnet3? (we always preinstall the open-vm-tools). Because otherwise its a pain to remove the e1000 NIC and add a vmxnet3 and redo all IP configuration. ex: a setting in tweaks.txt like this forceVmxnet3forLinux: true 🙂

VRA cannot be registered to host after esxi patch
in: VMware
we’re at esxi 6.5 up1 and there was a recent security patch released. I reviewed the matrix for our zerto version 5.5 update 2 patch 2 and didn’t see an issue with applying the security patch but now our VRA’s are logging ‘vra cannot be registered to host’. Doesn’t look like we can remove the […]

Open-vm-tools
in: Support Q & A
Earlier versions of Zerto did not support open-vm-tools in vmware, so VM’s using that would not re-ip during failover. As a work around we would remove open-vm-tools and instead install vm tools. Just a simple question, is this still the case? Does Zerto still not support open-vm-tools in VMware

Zerto Point in Time Restore Guidance?
in: Support Q & A
Does Zerto provide any machine learning guidance around point in time restores? Say a customer was affected by a scenario where multiple VMs were infected with Ransomware. Stepping thru 5 second checkpoints across several VMs would be very time consuming if you did not know when you were impacted on a per VM basis. Can […]

VPG issues and creation fail
in: VMware
Hello, Our VPG’s replications between 2 Zerto 8 instances got stuck in bitmap syncing @ 0%. I tried everything I could, including rebooting VRA’s, rebooting ZVM’s , nothing. I then created a small test VPG with 1 VM , works fine. OK, I tried to delete a larger one (7 VMs) and recreate it, unfortunately […]

At what point does the physical write happens
in: Support Q & A
Posting on behalf of David H. At what point does the physical write to the replication sight happen during normal operations? Your VPG/VM’s are running normally; a change happens to any VM in the VPG, at what point does that change become written to the replicated sight?
