vSphere Cluster Maintenance Mode Script

I took an old rolling reboot script that Joe Keegan at http://infrastructureadventures.com/2011/12/28/powercli-script-for-vsphere-cluster-rolling-reboot/ posted a few years ago and modified it to add in the VRA functions and added the ability to scan and patch the hosts as well. I’m tempted to ask Joe if we can upload this to Github and add in more functionality later. Requirements:

1. The VUM PowerShell snap-in
2. A VUM baseline already created. You change the name of the baseline variable in the “Scan” section of the script. Here is what it does:

1. Connects to the vCenter cluster, puts one host at a time in Maintenance Mode (MM), and shuts down only the VRA on the host going into MM.
2. Scans the host with a VUM baseline and then remediates it.
3. Reboots the host
4. Takes the host out of MM and restarts the VRA
5. Moves on to to the next host in the cluster and will do every host in the cluster.

Notes: It has no intelligence on the VUM Scan and Remediation. It just scans and patches, regardless of compliance. It would be nice if the scan came back “Compliant” that it didn’t reboot the host. It would also be good to add in some Zerto intelligence with the VRAs.
