Specific alerts from zerto GUI to email

  • Posting on behalf of Andy H.

I would like to know if it’s possible to filter alerts that are sent from ZVM GUI to an email.

Or if there is another way of sending specific alerts to an email?

    Andy,

This is AJ from Zerto support. At this moment in time, there is no functionality within the Zerto GUI to filter certain alerts from the ZVM. However, a workaround may be to use a Zerto Rest API script. This will authenticate with the ZVM to pull the alerts from the relevant ZVM to the host scripting this script. Leveraging an input CSV ($excludedAlert) you can then filter out the alerts they do not wish to be received via SMTP. This script can be found here: Send-ToSMTP

A feature request has already been submitted for a more granular alerting system that is built within the Zerto GUI. I recommend voting on this feature and look for any new updates from our team.

    Alert Improvement: better control

It looks like this script is not supported by Zerto.  I am looking for a supported solution for this issues.  I am getting over 1000 e-mails a weekend on a healthy environment and need a supported solution.

    Sample script text.

This script is an example script and is not supported under any Zerto support program or service.

    Hi,

This is Vladimir M with Zerto.

We do have other customers who have experienced this but we informed them to either disable or customize the alerts.

If you want a specific customization per alert you can navigate to the vCenter “alerts” tab and click on the “definitions” of the alerts.

There you will see that Zerto created for you all of our different alerts. All the Zerto alerts begin with “com.zerto”.

There you can edit the settings for each alert and define the suitable action.

Other than that, there is no other solution.

At this time we do not have a version with that capability, we do have a feature request for this – it’s internal ID B-01387. For more information about this feature request, please contact your account team. As for the time frame on that release that has not been stated at this time.

If you would like to disable the alert emails from Zerto and utilize the vCenter capability this will give you the option to choose the alarms you are notified on.
