ZVM consumes a high amount of CPU while Zerto Analytics is enabled

Viewed 50 times

Summary

The code issue can trigger an unexpected increase in CPU consumption on the Windows Server hosting the ZVM while Zerto Analytics is enabled when certain conditions are met.

Root Cause

A code issue was found in Zerto 8.0 that affects the Zerto Virtual Manager (ZVM).

Symptoms

Site is running at least Zerto 8.0 GA.
Zerto Analytics is enabled at this site (see the About section of the ZVM UI settings menu - Enable SaaS applications including Zerto Analytics, Cloud Control, and Mobile App.)
The site is running Zerto for vSphere or Zerto for Hyper-V.
The number of datastores in vCenter or Hyper-V inventory is high (more than 100).
The Windows server that hosts the ZVM is consuming more CPU than expected (more than 80% in total).

Solution

The immediate work around is to disable Zerto Analytics (see the About section of the ZVM UI settings menu - Enable SaaS applications including Zerto Analytics, Cloud Control, and Mobile App.)

The second work around is to contact the Zerto Support team for assistance applying an advanced configuration change to the ZVM to change the Zerto Analytics data collection behavior that triggers this code issue.
