In order to learn more about the GA of the new Azure Managed Disks Incremental Snapshot, customers are advised to refer to Microsoft’s blog.

The Zerto 7.5 and 8.0 software will install on any Azure region, but it will error out where Azure’s Incremental Snapshots functionality is not on currently supported GA region.

The 7.5 and 8.0 Azure Platform Update does not support Unmanaged Disks.  Customers operating on the 7.0 environment with VMs being replicated from Azure Unmanaged Disk into on-prem will be prevented from upgrading to 7.5 and consequently into 8.0

Background

Zerto customers who desire both failover and failback capability into Azure Managed Disks were previously not able to failback without a downtime caused by moving data from Managed Disks into Unmanaged Disks.

Utilizing the new Azure Managed Disks feature in the latest Zerto 7.5, and 8.0 upgrade, customers will be able to leverage Microsoft’s Incremental Snapshot feature during a failback process.  This feature is currently GA in Azure and customers using Zerto 7.5 and 8.0 will no longer need to convert Managed Disks to Unmanaged during the failback process.

This FTN describes Microsoft’s actions and the Azure regions where the Incremental Snapshot feature is GA.

Actions to take

Customers who would like to take advantage of Azure Managed Disks running on Microsoft GA regions are advised to make sure they have established network connection with the above supported regionsrefer to Microsoft blog for the latest information and then contact their Zerto account reps to come onboard.  Account representatives, please contact Jill.Lewis@zerto.com to finalize the onboarding to the code bits.
