Zerto Cloud Connector (ZCC) Was Deployed and Immediately Entered ‘Orphaned’ Status in 7.0

KB Number:
000001628

Symptoms:
1, ZVM was upgraded to 6.5 to 7.0
2, Zerto Cloud Connector (ZCC) Was Deployed and Immediately Entered ‘Orphaned’ Status

Cause:
ZVM has the following tweaks existing in C:\Program Files\Zerto\Zerto Virtual Replication\tweaks.txt

t_zvmZccPrivateKeyBasedConnection = "false"
t_cloudConnectorUserName = "root"
t_cloudConnectorPassword = "zertodata"

Those tweaks are for 6.5 and earlier versions. They disabled private key connection and defined a fixed password for SSH connection.
In Zerto 7.0 ZCC was redesigned to use a random password and should use a private key to connect.

Solution:

1, Add one extra tweak to ZVM C:\Program Files\Zerto\Zerto Virtual Replication\tweaks.txt
t_ZccPasswordForInstallation = "zertodata"
2, Remove the orphaned ZCC
3, Install ZCC again, the ZCC will be connected

Affected Versions:
7.0

Hypervisor:
VMware
