Enabling the ZVR Plugin for the vSphere Web Client may Disable other Solutions

KB Number:
00000169

Solution:

Purpose

Upon enabling the Zerto Virtual Replication plugin for the vSphere Web Client (see Enabling Zerto Virtual Replication GUI in vSphere Web Client), an administrator may notice that previously active vSphere Web Client plugins, such as the VDP plugin, may no longer be accessible.  This solution article explains the reason for this behavior, as well as a potential workaround.

Affected Versions

2.0 Update 3 (Xeme) and Greater

Complexity

Medium

Solution

This behavior is a VMware known issue, as discussed in the following VMware KB article, where enabling another solution, specifically VMware vCenter Support Assistant, by the same means as used to enable the ZVR plugin results in the same behavior:

Unable to access VMware vCenter Support Assistant in vSphere Web Client

In order to workaround this issue, an administrator can configure a separate web interface on another server, to allow the ZVR plugin to use one, and the other solution to use the other.
