Viewed 1360 times

Summary

An administrator may utilize VSS Checkpoints in their Zerto environment, however, VSS Checkpoints are not listing in the journals for selection in the Failover Live/Test Dialog window.

Root Cause

Parameter disk.EnableUUID is set to false.

Symptoms

After adding a VSS checkpoint, nothing happens on both Zerto and vCenter and the VSS checkpoint is not found.

The Event Viewer logs on the ZVM will show:

ERROR: "event ID" 30

Solution

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to set the necessary configuration parameter to true"

  1. Open VMware vSphere client, and log into the ESXi host or vCenter machine managing the virtual machine you want to edit.

  2. Locate the virtual machine and power it off. Then click on the "Edit Settings" option.

  3. Go to the "Options" tab and click on the row labeled "General" under "Advanced."  On that page, click on the "Configuration Parameters..." button.

  4. Look for a row starting with "disk.EnableUUID" in the configuration parameters.  If it is set to "false" change the value to "true" and click "OK."  If you do not see that row, click the "Add Row" button and add it to look like below.  Then click "OK" to save it.

  5. Power on the machine to complete the process.
