Problem with VPG Entering a Volume Initial Sync After VPG Update
Viewed 157 times
Summary
An administrator may need to update a VPG for the recovery disks to switch between thick/thin provision type. This will lead to the VPG going through a volume initial sync.
Root Cause
This is expected behavior.
Disk provision type change will result in the relevant VMs entering volume initial sync. The original recovery volumes would be deleted and new volumes would be provisioned with the newly defined provision type and synced from scratch.
Symptoms
A VPG entered volume initial sync after updating the VPG's recovery volume provision type between thick/thin.
Solution
As this is expected behavior, there is no resolution outside of monitoring the initial sync progress.
If the initial sync appears to be hung/never finishes, contact Zerto Support for further assistance.
