Problem where MSP end customers receive alerts for VPGs and VMs that are not their’s

Viewed 33 times

Summary

MSP end customers expect to receive relevant alerts for their environment. This issue can cause an end customer to receive alerts meant for an entirely different MSP end customer due to similar infrastructure on the MSP site.

Root Cause

Zerto does not filter alerts for different sites that share the same recovery VRA. Therefore, end customers that utilize the same Recovery VRA could end up seeing alerts from each other for VPGs/VMs utilizing said Recovery VRA.

Symptoms

An end customer (A) receives an alert about a VPG that belongs to end customer (B). Both A and B are paired up to the MSP site (C) and utilize the same Recovery VRA.

Solution

To resolve this issue, either:
  1. MSP to segregate customers' Recovery VRAs (1 end customer per Recovery VRA) which can be done via editing the VPG and choosing each VMs' Recovery Host.
  2. Upgrade to at least 7.5 Update 4.
