Problem: Recovered VMs fail to boot with a Blue Screen in Cross platform Hyper-V to VMware Replication

Root Cause

This is a known VMware issue. This blue diagnostic screen can occur when the affected VM does not have the SCSI Controller drivers necessary to boot properly on the vCenter's environment.

Symptoms

In a Cross Platform Replication, when replication is set up from a Hyper-V source site to a VMware target site, upon failover, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 VMs fail to boot with a Blue Screen, stating a 7B stop code. 

Solution

In order to resolve the blue screen issue: 

1. On the protected VM, open regedit and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LSI_SAS. 
2. Right click on the Start key and click Modify. Set the value to '0'. (with type REG_DWORD)
3. Restart the VM.
4. Subsequently, upon Failover, the recovered VM should boot correctly.
