How to Utilize the XML Files for Export/Import VPGs

An administrator may want to know about XML file standard procedures.

Steps

XML files are used to import/export VPG settings.

You are able to export VPG Settings in one of the following ways:

  1. Using Zerto Diagnostic tool.
  2. Using Zerto Powershell Cmdlets as explained on the following KB How to Export VPG Settings with Zerto PowerShell Cmdlets.

You are able to import VPG Settings in of the following ways:

  1. Using Zerto Diagnostic tool.
  2. Using Zerto Powershell Cmdlets as explained on the following KB How to Import VPG Settings with Zerto PowerShell Cmdlets

Regardless, The ZVM export every 24 hours the XML files For all VPGs available.
You will be able to find those files at the "ExportedSettings" folder at the Zerto installation folder.
\Program Files\Zerto\Zerto Virtual Replication\ExportedSettings.

Important to note:

  1. When the ZVM tries to export the XML files but there are no VPGs available, it will export an EmptyExportedSettings file.
  2. When the ZVM tries to export the XML files and it encounters an error/for some reason cannot complete the export, it will export a PartialExportedSettings file.
  3. There is retention for the automatically exported XML files of 30 days.
