How to correlate SCVMM build number and SCVMM versions for use with Zerto

Viewed 308 times

Summary

According to our Interoperability Matrix, supported versions of Management Tools - Microsoft SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager) are listed by the OS version and Rollup number.

In terms of troubleshooting and support, identifying and cross referencing the information may be required to confirm the version of SCVMM.

The following links can be used to cross reference the build number to the rollup version.

Steps

There are several ways to obtain the SCVMM build and/or rollup version. Below are some options:

1. Using the SCVMM console:

a. From the SCVMM Console Click the top left drop down and About

b. The build number will be reported after the Server Version. In this example, it is 10.19.2292.0:

c. Cross reference with any of the links above and we can see 10.19.2292.0 is 'Update Rollup 1 for System Center 2019 Virtual Machine Manager'

2. From the Powershell Cmdlet

a. Launch Powershell and run the command:

Get-SCVMMServer -ComputerName {VMM Server name goes here} |Select-Object ProductVersion

NOTE: The machine you launch Powershell must have a connection to the VMM Server. If the VMM server is not known but you are able to log into the SCVMM Console, you can locate from the Fabric Resources > Servers > VMM Server

b. Example

c. Cross reference with any of the links above and we can see 10.19.2292.0 is 'Update Rollup 1 for System Center 2019 Virtual Machine Manager'

3. Via the Installed updates on the VMM VM:

a. From the VM that the VMM is installed on, browse to:

Control Panel > Add/Remove > View Installed Updates
