Problem with Recovery of Windows 2008R2 Server to AWS is Not Reachable
Viewed 527 times
An administrator may experience a Windows 2008R2 server is not reachable after a successful recovery to AWS.
The latest version of ZertoTools for Windows now includes enhancements to support Windows 2008 R2 servers. ZertoTools for Windows prior only supported Windows 2012 and 2016 servers and Windows 2008 R2 servers required XEN drivers be installed to allow for successful Failover to AWS.
Installing ZertoTools on servers where XEN drivers already existed can result in unexpected behavior upon recovery to AWS. ZertoTools will fail to run leading to a recovered server that is not reachable via network.
Recovery of a Windows 2008 R2 server to an AWS recovery site is not reachable over the network after installing/running ZertoTools for Windows.
To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:
Uninstall the XEN drivers for each server in the associated VPG.
Re-install ZertoTools for Windows on each server in the associated VPG.
Start a Failover Test and select a checkpoint from after ZertoTools for Windows was installed successfully.
If the Failover Test still creates a recovery server that is not reachable, contact Zerto Support for further assistance.
