Error: “Vim25Api.FileAlreadyExists” when Attempting to Create a VPG
Viewed 243 times
An administrator may see a FileAlreadyExists error when attempting to create a new VPG.
When the protected VM has a moref ID beyond 6 digits, it would take the first 6 digits of the protected VM moref to fill the recovery path (the hyphen is dropped). The recovery path is designed to separate the recovery volumes for different protected VMs. If the protected VM's moref exceeds 6 digits and the name of the vmdk happen to be the same, then directory listing will appear to be the same for two different disks.
VPG creation fails with error:
Failed applying configuration to VM (ID vm-xxxxxxx) Message: Cannot complete the operation because the file or folder [Datastore] Z-VRA/***/vmxxxxxx/template.vmdk already exists. Fault: Vim25Api.FileAlreadyExists
