Problem with Changes to Hyper-V VM Not Updating in Zerto GUI
Viewed 365 times
Summary
An administrator may need to make changes to a protected VM, such as adding a new disk, but those changes are not reflecting in the Zerto GUI.
Root Cause
Since Zerto Virtual Replication integrates with the System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), any changes made through the Hyper-V manager will not show up in Zerto GUI until the changes have been registered in SCVMM. Once the SCVMM has the changes registered, the next reflection collection returned to Zerto will have these updates and the Zerto GUI will update accordingly.
Symptoms
When making changes to VMs in the Hyper-V manager, some changes, such as added disks, may not appear in the Zerto GUI. Specifically, when creating a new Virtual Protection Group with this VM, or editing an existing VPG that contains the VM, new disks may not appear in the VPG configuration and therefore are not fully protected.
Solution
To make sure the newest changes are registered in SCVMM follow the below steps:
Refresh the Hyper-V host and Virtual Machines in the SCVMM console after making any changes to VM configurations from the Hyper-V manager.
To do this, right-click the host in SCVMM, and use the 'Refresh Virtual Machines' option.
NOTE: If the above actions are not taken, SCVMM may only refresh this information every 24 hours.
