Best Practice When Changing the ZVM Host Name, DNS entry, or Joining the ZVM to a Domain
Viewed 175 times
Due to different administrative reasons, the windows guest OS on which the ZVM service is installed may need to be changed. This article reviews items to consider when these changes take place.
- Changing the hostname in the guest OS of the machine hosting the ZVM will not affect Zerto.
- If the DNS entry is changed, either manually or automatically, because the ZVM is on a domain, and the hostname must also be changed, there is no effect.
- Note: The IP address of the ZVM must not change.
- If the ZVM machine is joining a domain, then the user account (default is local administrator) used for Zerto and the Zerto service must remain as a local administrator.
