SGS: “Zerto is so easy to use!”

Global Standards and Compliance Company Simplifies DR, Chooses Zerto over Backup

SGS provides verification services across industries and countries to create trust between companies, governments and consumers. The value of their company is highly dependent on the availability of their information. SGS employs more than 70,000 people in more than 1,350 offices and laboratories around the world that help companies meet important health, safety and regulatory standards throughout the supply chain process. Through comprehensive inspections, certification and verification processes and a global network of testing facilities, SGS ensures companies are compliant with both local and global standards and regulations. The unavailability of applications and data can impact the availability of products across industries.

SGS Turkey was evaluating new BC/DR approaches for their virtualized environment. They had looked at a backup-based replication tool, Veeam, but experienced significant issues. They looked to their trusted advisor EMOBIL. SGS and EMOBIL had been strategic IT partners since EMOBIL’s founding in 2002. The EMOBIL team recommended a new product they had recently began implementing – Zerto Virtual Replication. The simplicity and power of the solution was exactly what SGS Turkey needed for BC/DR.

The Problem

SGS Turkey had virtualized their environment to gain flexibility, availability and reduce costs. They needed to ensure this environment was protected as the unavailability directly impacts their customers. The IT team was growing concerned that it would only be a matter of time before human error, hardware failure, natural disaster, or any other adverse condition stopped a perfectly running IT operation. SGS Turkey is highly dependent on technology in its operations. Any down time results in a significant financial impact.

Working with EMOBIL, they developed a criteria for a BC/DR solution. They needed a simple solution, which was easy to manage and maintain, while delivering enterprise class protection built for a global organization. They had evaluated an orchestration tool and it was just too complex. SGS Turkey then evaluated a snapshot-based replication tool and it caused a significant event, which was not acceptable.
