Story Musgrave is a Boston local and a retired NASA astronaut who flew on six spaceflights over his 30 year career with NASA. He performed the first shuttle spacewalk on Challenger’s first flight, was a pilot on an astronomy mission, conducted two classified DOD missions, and was the lead spacewalker on the Hubble Telescope repair mission. A veteran of six space flights, Musgrave has spent a total of 1,281 hours, 59 minutes, 22 seconds on space missions, including nearly 27 hours of extra-vehicular activity in space. Story has six graduate degrees in math, computers, chemistry, medicine, physiology, and literature and has been awarded 20 honorary doctorates. He was a part-time trauma surgeon in addition to his career as an astronaut.
