Biggest DR Challenges are Complexity, Organization & Management Issues
By Zerto, on 21 September, 2011
“What’s your biggest DR challenge?”
That’s the question we asked to 80+ participants on a recent webinar. Surprisingly, RTO / RPO goals and cost efficiency did not appear as their number one concern. The number one DR problem IT managers face is data center complexity, followed by cost and their inability to manage application-level policies for DR. While cost & RPO/ RTO are challenges, taken together, we saw that more than 50% of data center managers cite similar concerns; complexity, organization & management issues.
Much of this added complexity and management challenge comes from virtualization. Virtualization presents many challenges for implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans, but you may not know that it provides opportunities as well. In fact, by leveraging the virtualized environment for DR, companies can achieve faster recovery and minimize data loss, while reducing management overhead.
We’re excited to be hosting our first webinar, together with Forrester Analyst Rachel Dines addressing the subject of DR for virtualized environments entitled, Best Practices for Disaster Recovery in an Increasingly Virtualized World
Rachel and I will address the following issues on a webinar on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 12:00 noon EST (9:00am PST):
- Best practices for architecting your disaster recovery environment – think about continuous availability, not just recovery!
- How to select the right set of technologies and refine virtualization processes
- Ways to realize the full benefits of virtualization through a new technology that offers enterprise-class replication for business-critical virtual applications

We hope to see you there.
